Letter to residents regarding upcoming roadworks

S278 Works Grafton Road/Violet Way/Beaufort Road, Brizlincote
Highway Improvement Works
I am writing to advise you that improvement works to the highway at the junction of Grafton Road and Violet Way/Beaufort Road in Brizlincote are due to commence on Monday 12th July 2021 with works programmed to be completed in 8 weeks, completion programme for 31st August 2021.
Concurrently with the above, surfacing works to Tutbury Drive, then you access into the ‘Encore’ housing development off Grafton Rd will commence on 9th August 2021 with completion there programmed for 3rd September 2021. Residents directly affected by those works will be contacted directly by the housing developer Strata homes.
The works comprise the following elements:
- Replacing the current mini roundabout with a ‘raised table’ to control traffic speed at Grafton Rd/Violet Way/Beaufort Rd junction;
- Relocation and upgrading of an existing bus stop on the northern side of Grafton Rd;
- Footway and carriageway surfacing works and parking restrictions on Tutbury Drive.
During the works traffic management proposals are as follows:
From 12th July 2021 to 25th July 2021: 3-way temporary traffic signals on Grafton Rd, Violet Way and Beaufort Rd;
From 26 July 2021 to 31st August 2021: a full Rd closure at the above junction location with a clearly signed diversion route as detailed in the road closure graphic.
From 9th August 2021 to 3rd September 2021: 3-way temporary lights at Grafton Rd junction with Tutbury Drive.

During the period when the junction between Grafton Rd, Violet Way and Beaufort Rd is closed to through traffic, clearly signed diversion routes will be in place to guide motorists away from the closed off section onto appropriate routes and access will be maintained to frontages at all times.
The diversion route details including signing can be found at the above web address. Emergency contact details for the traffic management subcontractor are shown on the temporary signing if you need to report any issue with the diversion route signage.
Throughout the works period a pedestrian route will remain open between Violent Way/ Beaufort Rd/Grafton Rd through towards Woods Lane.
Bus service 18 operated by Midland Classic will be enhanced during the period when the road is closed. The service 18 will add additional peak journeys to an off peak service. Timetable information is available at the web address given above.
Passengers will access the service by walking from Grafton Rd through the walkway to Woods Lane and Springfarm Rd, where they can pick up the service. The operator will put notices up at the bus stops for passengers, including at any stop temporarily out of service.
Please be assured that the works have been planned to take place over the quieter months of the year, with the closures planned for the summer holidays to minimise the disruption to the public.
