Instrumentalist Music Competition – Winners 2022
On Saturday 5th March, Brizlincote Parish Council hosted their first Instrumentalist Music Competition at St. Peter’s Church. Congratulations to all of the participants – they all performed wonderfully. The event was also supported by performances from Edge Hill Academy’s choir and an instrumental ensemble from Abbot Beyne School (pictured). Thank you to all those who attended and to those who helped, we hope you will agree that it was a success.
Three winners, one from each age category, were announced on the day.
Congratulations to Joseph O’Dwyer from Edge Hill Academy, whose acoustic guitar performance earned him the winners’ certificate in the 6-10 years category.
Congratulations also to Rosa Bracewell and Calvin Pallet, both from Abbot Beyne School, winners of the 11-16 years and 17+ years categories respectively. Rosa impressed us all with her violin performance, and Calvin finished off the day’s entertainment with their captivating flugelhorn performance.
East Side Art Competition 2021
East Side Art Competition is the Parish Council’s annual art competition, which has been running since 2017. Each year we invite the 11 ‘East Side’ schools to submit their pupils artworks, providing them with a theme to inspire their works.
This year, the theme was ‘Transport in Burton – Past, Present, Future’.
We received dozens of fantastic entries this year, and local ceramic artist Joanna Dawidowska kindly judged from 15 shortlisted entries and selected this year’s winners.
The winners are;
Anya Mahoney, Tower View
Fearne Hemmings, Paulet
Lydia Millward, Paulet
Congratulations to our three 2021 winners. Each was presented with a certificate and art-related prize just before the October half term.
This year’s entries will join last year’s entries in our Parish Council time capsule.
